Tihidi: A girl was allegedly confined to a house and raped for eight months by a youth in this area under Bhadrak. The girl’s family rescued her and filed a police complaint May 10.
The youth, Bulu Das of Karabandhi Balisahi, also forcibly married the girl at a temple, allegedly with a view to escaping the arms of law.
Reports said the girl used to work in a company in Kolkata. Das got in touch with the girl and took her to his house where he kept her under lock and key for eight months. During the period, he tortured and raped her.
The girl managed to inform the matter to her family. When her family members reached the spot, the accused threatened them. They sought police help. The youth then forced her to marry him at the Akhandalamani temple.
The victim and the accused were medically examined, police said.
