Jeypore, April 11: A tailor residing in Bhupati Sahi of Jeypore town who had entered into the Guinness World Record for making largest half-pant has threatened that he will stage fast unto death outside sub-collector’s office from April 24 if the state government does not take any steps to concede his demand by the period.
The tailor named A V Giri had created Guinness World Record in 2007 by making the world’s largest half-pant. He had also set Limca Book of Records twice in past.
However, the government has so far not extended any help to him. He is facing financial difficulties to maintain his life. Even, he does not have a house or shop in the town.
Giri has stated that he has sent several letters to the Prime Minister, President and Governor and apprised them about the matter. The Prime Minister and President both had asked then chief secretary of the state in 2008 to provide help to him.
Then, chief secretary had directed then Koraput collector in March, 2009 to prepare a report on the issue and submit it over to the President and southern revenue divisional commissioner. However, no further action was taken on the issue and he has been waiting for last six years to get some help from the government.
Therefore, he has decided to stage fast unto death if the administration does not provide help to him by April 24, Giri has said.
