post news network, Bhubaneswar, April 23: Numerous budding artists preformed in a classical music show to mark the 24th dance and music festival of Chinmayee Classic, a cultural body, at Rabindra Mandap in city, Thursday.
A group of students sang raga-based Hindi songs during the programme to promote classical music in the city. The recitals were based on raag-desh and taal-ektal. Besides, many classical dances such as Pallavi, Palli Nrutya and Sambalpuri were also staged by the budding talents.
“I have been inspired by my music teachers. They are masters in their respective fields. Earlier it was hard to learn but eventually it became easy. Recently I won the ‘little champ sa re ga ma pa’ contest organised by MBC channel and it happened due to the support of my gurus and parents,” said Ipsit Pati.
Meanwhile, founder of this cultural body Prabhati Kar appreciated the performance of the children. “These children have won my heart. They have performed well and consistently in various state and national level competitions. Ipsit Pati, a student, won the national scholarship during a classical vocal competition organised by the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT) in 2014 and Bhagyaswari Behera, another student, in 2013. Our purpose is to produce the musicians who can make their own history,” said Prabhati.
Hindi bhajans were also sang by Guru Balakrishna Bejhera, while guru Bijay Kumar Das performed Odissi dance, titled ‘Puspanjali’.
“Our Orissa is rich in ancient culture and heritage. This programme became a medium to promote our cultural. ‘Puspanjali’ expresses the nature of an artist who tries to make people happy even when he/she is sad,” said Bijay Kumar.
Deputy director of the Doordarshan Kendra, A Maheswar Rao, was present on the occasion. The programme will continue till April 24.
