Basudevpur: A three-month-old girl died after allegedly receiving a polio injection in Nandapatana village under Balimunda panchayat of Basudevpur block in Bhadrak district, triggering allegations of medical negligence. According to a complaint lodged by the child’s father, Rajaram Jana, his daughter Rajashree was administered a polio injection Monday at the local Anganwadi centre in Nandapatana.
Later that evening, she developed a fever and was admitted to the Basudevpur Community Health Centre for treatment. Doctors treated the infant, and she stayed overnight at the hospital with her mother. However, during a routine round Tuesday morning, the attending doctor found the child unresponsive and declared her dead.
Following the incident, Rajaram filed a complaint with the Nayakanidihi police, who registered an unnatural death case (30/25) and launched an investigation.
