Rourkela: Acting on a tip-off, police late Friday night arrested seven persons in a raid in the steel plant area and busted an Indian Premium League (IPL) betting racket. The cops also seized 40 mobile phones and some cash from the arrested.
According to reports, the SP here got information about the IPL betting racket. A team of the city police raided the area. A case was registered and the seven were produced in court Saturday morning. They were remanded to judicial custody after the court rejected their bail pleas.
The police is keeping a close watch on different locations like Ambagaon, Sector-6 and Daily Market amid hints that IPL betting is on in these areas.
