Bhawanipatna: Rahul Pradhan, a young mountaineer from Kalahandi, has set a new record by successfully scaling Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa.
Climbers usually take five to six days to ascend the 5,895-metre-tall peak. However, Rahul became the first Indian to complete the climb in just 15 hours and 53 minutes. He also scaled the peak at night, adding to the challenge. On Independence Day, Rahul hoisted the Tricolour atop Mount Kilimanjaro after his successful ascent.
Last year, he had achieved a similar feat by summiting Europe’s Mount Elbrus in 22 hours on Independence Day and unfurling the Tricolour there. Rahul’s latest success has drawn widespread praise from various quarters in the district.
