Kendrapara: Kendrapara Sadar Police arrested Friday, Musaraf Khan of Ayenda village under Nischintakoili police station on charges of confining and raping a minor girl on multiple occasions. The 17-year-old had taken refuge in Musaraf’s house to escape the wrath of her father over her affair with a local youth. The girl who will be sent for medical examination, Saturday, later told the police that Musaraf had befriended her dad for long.
The girl who had been confined for over three weeks last month, managed to flee Friday. She reached the Kendrapara Sadar police station and based on her allegations, the police started an investigation and nabbed the 40-year-old Musaraf. Narrating her plight, the girl said that Musaraf had threatened to kill her and forcibly married her.
According to Kabuli Barik, IIC of Kendrapara Sadar, the girl was in love with a youth in her locality. However, her family was against the association. Seeking help, she approached Musaraf, who in the past had visited her house on a number of occasions. However, things transpired tragically for the girl when she started staying in Musaraf’s house.
The girl also said that in the past, Musaraf had protected her and her mom when her father had assaulted them in an inebriated condition. Hence she thought, she could depend on him for help.
