Koraput: Discontent among students over teaching quality surfaced at the PM Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) in Koraput Monday as scores of students marched 6 km along National Highway 26 to the District Collector’s office to voice their grievances.
The students alleged that their history teacher was not teaching effectively and that they could not understand the lessons. Despite repeatedly informing the school authorities about the issue and other problems since August, no action was taken, prompting the students to approach the district administration directly.
More than 100 students, accompanied by the principal, walked from the school to the Collectorate. Sub-Collector Premalal Hial and SDPO Sanjay Kumar Mandal met them and attempted to mediate between the students and the school authorities. However, the students insisted that they would not leave until they spoke with the District Collector.

In the Collector’s absence, Additional District Collector Bhaktabandhu Janardhan Dalei met the students and heard their complaints regarding the teacher’s conduct and teaching methods, as well as other issues at the school. After reviewing the matter, Dalei assured the students that the concerned teacher would be immediately relieved from duty and a permanent replacement would be appointed soon.
Until then, two government officials would visit the school regularly to assist with classes and ensure smooth functioning. Following this assurance, the students agreed to return to the school. The administration arranged a bus to transport them back safely.
