Bhubaneswar, Feb 23: Ahead of the presentation of railway budget in Parliament, the state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Monday requested Union railway minister Suresh Prabhu to introduce two trains for the state.
“We have urged the minister to introduce a duronto train to Mumbai from Bhubaneswar and a Titlagarh-Allahabad express in the railway budget 2015-16. It will enhance the density of rail connectivity in the state,” state BJP president KV Singh Deo said.
Lakhs of Oriyas who work in Mumbai will benefit by the introduction of a direct point to point and a non-stop duronto express train which may reduce travel time, he said. Currently, there is one direct train, Konark Express, which runs between Bhubaneswar and Mumbai, takes over 36 hours to reach its destination.
Urging the railway minister to introduce a Titlagarh to Allahabad express, the BJP leader said, “There is only one train from the state – Purushottam Express— that goes from Puri to Allahabad bypassing western Orissa. The new train should cater to the western Orissa and southern Chhattisgarh population.”
He also hoped that the BJP-led NDA government will consider the demand.
