Bhadrak/Aradi: Amid incessant rains, major rivers like Baitarani, Salandi, Kochila, Reba, and Kapali saw floods. Many areas under Chandbali, Dhamnagar and Tihidi blocks were flooded.

Reports said, areas like Aradi, Nandapur, Sundarpur, Olaga under Chandbali block; Palasahi, Rabapur under Dhamnagar block and Shyamsundarpur under Tihidi block were flooded.

Due to flood in river Baitarani, villages like Muan, Santara, Shitalpur, Batola, Singipur, Sanapanki and several other villages under Aradi panchayat were cut off from the rest of the world.

Thousands of hectares of farmland are under floodwater at Pahana, Bhuinpur, Koilakha, Palatpur, Bankamuhan, Bodak, Sathibankuda, Sundarpur, Khatuapatana, Paradia, Champasahi, Sundarpur, Dohorapatana.

Locals said floodwaters fail to drain out to sea as sea water remains stormy due to amabasya.

A stretch of NH-20 in Olaga panchayat got submerged under floodwaters, disrupting traffic.

Farmers were worried over the fact that paddy saplings they had raised for transplantation will start rotting if the water-logging continues.

Besides, incessant rains induced by a low pressure on the Bay of Bengal have led to continuous swelling of water levels of Salandi and Genguti river in Bhadrak.

Thousands of hectares of farmlands are under water while communication on many roads was affected as water runs over them.

Rainwater on Dhamnagar-Phalpur road flows 4 feet above the ground.

Reports said, thousands of hectares of farmland under Bhadrak, Bhandaripokhari, Tihidi and Chandbali block were inundated, leaving the farmers worried.

People of Chhatabar Ramchandrapur panchayat under Bhadaripokhari block have been facing a lot of difficulties after houses and roads are submerged under rainwater.

Heavy rains have reportedly created a fissure on the Genguti embankment at Rameswar under Dhamnagar block. Locals fear possible collapse of the embankment in case of flood situation in the area.

Collector Gyanaranjan Das and other officials visited some areas of Dhamnagar.  In possible flood situation in Bhandaripokhari and Dhamnagar, the PD and the sub-collector have been given special tasks.
