Koraput: A girl allegedly impregnated by the headmaster of her school delivered a girl child at the Koraput hospital here Saturday night.
The victim, a student of Balda Girls’ High School in Nandapur block was allegedly raped by the headmaster.
The issue had triggered a huge uproar in the locality after the matter came to the fore four months back. Police arrested the accused headmaster while the education officials suspended him from service for the offence.
The victim was left confined to her home when she experienced labour pain and admitted to the hospital where she delivered a girl child at night.
Both the mother and the newborn baby are doing well, the doctors treating them at the hospital said. On being apprised, the State Human Rights Commission directed the district administration to pay Rs 75,000 as compensation to the victim. PNN
