Rourkela/ Baliguda: A minor girl was allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped by four men at Ratakhandi in Rourkela Thursday evening while a young girl alleged rape by a police constable and staged a sit-in protest at the Baliguda police station, in Kandhamal district, Friday.
According to reports, the incident in Rourkela took place when the victim was returning home from a neighbour’s house. Four people allegedly abducted her and forcefully carried her to the nearby forest, where they allegedly raped her.
A complaint in this regard was lodged at the Bisra police station, following which the four were arrested. Police have started investigation into the incident registering a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The victim has been sent for medical examination.
COP ACCUSED
In Baliguda, a young girl in a written complaint, accused the constable of raping her on false pretext of marriage for last two years. The accused was identified as Bharat Mallick of Balipadar area.
The staged a sit-in protest demanding action against him.
As per the victim’s allegation, Mallik first abducted her and took her to his sister’s house in Baliguda High School Colony November 28, 2016 where he kept her for some days and raped her.
Since then, he was continuously sexually assaulting the victim at different places in Kandhamal district as well as Bhubaneswar on the pretext of marriage.
It was when the accused planned to marry another girl that the victim mustered courage and filed an FIR against the constable August 7. Meanwhile, the victim’s family has also alleged that the Baliguda police were shielding the constable and not acting upon an FIR.
However, Baliguda police said that the cop has been detained and an investigation is on.
Class II student raped in Delhi
New Delhi: A class two student of a New Delhi Municipal Council school was allegedly raped by an electrician in the institute’s premises, police said Friday. The girl was leaving school on Wednesday when the accused, Ram Ashray (37), allegedly took her to a
pump room in the school premises and forced himself on her, police said.
