Bargarh: In a shocking incident, a 40-year-old man was left battling for life after someone chopped off his genitals while at sleep Wednesday night. The incident took place at Nileswar village under Sadar police limits in this district.
The victim was Ashok Barik. Preliminary investigations hinted there existed a family feud. Barik was taken first to the Bargarh district hospital and from there to the Burla-based VSS Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR).
“My brother and sister-in-law hired goons to kill me. Sudam Sahu came to my house in an inebriated state. He first tried to strangulate me and then he castrated me,”said the victim. He had also written the name of the main accused Sudam in blood on his floor.
Police detained the victim’s elder brother Seva Barik, sister-in-law Shanti Barik and their aide Sudam Sahu for interrogation. “Nothing is clear as of now. A probe is on,” SDPO Suresh Kumar Naik said.
