Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is on a three-day visit to New Delhi. While talking to reporters in the national capital, Patnaik was asked who the BJD would support in the upcoming presidential elections. “There is still some time left for the presidential elections. So we are not thinking about it at the moment,” Patnaik said. It should be stated here that the presidential elections are due in July this year after the tenure of President Ram Nath Kovind ends.

The BJD supremo was also asked about West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s letter to opposition leaders and chief ministers of non-BJP ruled states for the formation of an anti-BJP front. Patnaik said he is yet to receive the letter, but clarified that more than anything else the BJD government in Odisha is only interested in the development of the state. “We stand for development of Odisha. That’s what our party aims for,” asserted Patnaik.
Patnaik arrived Tuesday at the Parliament and met with BJD MPs at the party’s parliamentary office. He reached Delhi Monday evening and attended a sports award ceremony, where he congratulated the women’s hockey team.
