No leads on MP nominee’s abduction

Nabarangpur: Even as 48 hours have passed since the abduction of Sadashiv Sahoo alias Sunil, a Nabarangpur-based hotelier and a nominee of Lok Sabha MP, of Nandahandi block, the police are yet to trace him.

Although, the police had detained some suspects for interrogation, there has been no clue on his whereabouts. This spread resentment among his supporters and the family members.  Expressing displeasure over the tardy process of probe, the family members and locals alleged that the police neither traced Sunil’s whereabouts nor apprehended any suspects.

Meanwhile, Nabarangpur SP Bibekanand Sharma reached the BDO’s office and held a discussion. Later, a team visited the spot from where Sunil was abducted and launched a probe.  A scientific team from Koraput and sniffer dogs have been pressed into service. The police are tracing his phone. Police sources said, son of a former minister, has also been detained by the police for interrogation.

The scientific team seized a lathi, glasses, slippers and blood-stained grass where Sunil was abducted.

Sunil was abducted while he was returning home Thursday at around 4pm. A complaint was lodged by Sunil’s elder brother Madhusudhan Sahoo in this connection.

Taking note of the report, a five-member team was formed to trace Sunil and zero in on the culprits involved in the kidnapping. The team also claimed to have launched a manhunt but failed to get any lead in the case. While further investigation into the incident is underway, the police are still trying to ascertain the cause behind Sunil’s abduction.
