Mumbai: An Odia officer of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) who had stopped Hindi movie actor Salman Khan at Mumbai airport for a mandatory security check-up was suitably awarded for this exemplary professionalism, sources said Wednesday.
This came contrary to reports published in a section of media that said he was troubled for diligently discharging his duty.
The CISF informed that, Somnath Mohanty, the young officer who asked actor Khan to observe security routine at the Mumbai airport, has not been reprimanded but given a cash reward of Rs 5,000 along with a citation for his work.
According to a source, Salman Khan was flying to Russia to film the third part of his Ek Tha Tiger franchise August 20. He was stopped at the Mumbai airport by the CISF officer who asked him to join the queue and also produce necessary travel documents. Although the actor was surprised, he followed the instructions.
The video of the incident went viral on social media in no time with praises flooding for the young officer.
However, several reports citing another CISF officer stated that the officer’s phone had been confiscated to prevent him from speaking to the media.
To clear the air, the CISF responded to the news stories on Twitter writing, “The contents of these reports are incorrect and without factual basis. In fact, the officer concerned has been suitably rewarded for exemplary professionalism in the discharge of his duty.”
