Bhubaneswar: As many as eight new Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHC) in different districts of Odisha will be set up by the state Government under National Urban Health Mission (NUHM), an official notification said Wednesday.
According to the notification, the new UPHCs will be set up in Jajpur district (Jajpur and Vyasanagar), Mayurbhanj district (Rairangpur), Malkangiri district (Malkangiri), Balasore district (Soro), Sundargarh district (Rajagangpur), Angul district (Talcher) and Cuttack district (Cuttack),
Notably, National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) is a sub-component under National Health Mission (NHM) approved by Cabinet in the year 2013. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is the implementing agency of NUHM.
It can be mentioned here that NUHM envisages meeting healthcare needs of the urban population with a focus on urban poor, by providing them with essential primary healthcare services and reducing their out-of-pocket expenses for treatment.
