Bhubaneswar: Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha, will conduct the Matriculation examinations from February 19 across 3,082 centres in the state, with extensive security and monitoring measures in place, officials said Monday.

Briefing the media, BSE chairperson Shrikanta Tarai said 561,979 students have registered for the examination. Question papers will begin dispatch from Tuesday, while 322 nodal centres have been set up for their secure storage.

To ensure transparency and prevent malpractice, CCTV surveillance has been installed at all examination centres. The entire examination process will be monitored from the Board’s command and control room, Tarai said.

“The State Open School Certificate Examination will be held over 11 days from 9 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. Around 5.61 lakh students will appear at 3,082 centres. Through live CCTV feeds and QR-coded question papers, all nodal and examination centres will be closely monitored,” he said.

Special monitoring arrangements have been made for five remote districts — Malkangiri, Koraput, Kalahandi, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh — through live CCTV feeds transmitted via a secured network path.

Each question paper will carry watermarks and QR codes on every page to track its movement and location. Examination centres have been allotted within a distance of 3 km to 10 km for students’ convenience.

Officials said the measures are aimed at ensuring a smooth, transparent and malpractice-free Matric examination across Odisha.
