Sundargarh: Police arrested as many as four persons in connection with an alleged fake job racket in Odisha’s Sundargarh district, a source said Sunday.
According to the source, the accused promised employment to job aspirants for the posts of receptionist, security guard, and attendant at Government Medical College and Hospital, Sundargarh. They used to provide job seekers with fake appointment letters, identity cards, and other forged documents to get the job.
The accused had allegedly faked the signature and letterpad of the college’s dean along with the Odisha Government’s logo to dupe the job aspirants.
The accused charged an amount ranging from Rs 40,000 to 80,000 from job seekers for placement, the source added.
The accused were identified to be Ashish Nayak, Sushant Majhi, Chaitan Tanti, and Madan. Another accused identified as Hemant Nayak is absconding, the source informed.
The matter came to fore when some of the aspirants – who had paid the amount to the accused but did not get jobs – lodged an FIR at Town Police Station in Sundargarh district.
Based on the FIR, police probed the matter and nabbed the alleged fraudsters.
Further investigation is on in this regard.
