Bhubaneswar: Odisha topped the medal chart by winning 15 gold, 16 silver, nine bronze and 12 medallions in the three-day national competition ‘India Skills 2024’ that concluded at Yashobhumi in New Delhi Sunday. Applauding the winning team, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said, “The dedication, hard work, and triumphs of the participants have made the entire state proud. Wish them all the best for the future.”

More than 900 contestants from various skill institutions of the country participated in the competition. The competition was organised in four locations—Bangalore, Manipal, Gandhinagar and New Delhi. The competitors participated in six skill sectors including construction and building technology, creative arts and fashion, information and communication technology, manufacturing and engineering technology, social and personal services and transportation and logistics. “Odisha topped the medals tally and proved ‘Skilled in Odisha’ as the best in the country,” Odisha Skill Development Authority (OSDA) chairperson Alka Mishra said. The finalists of this national level competition will have the chance to showcase their ability at ‘World Skills’ competitions, scheduled to take place in Lyon, France in September.
