Bhubaneswar: Schools were closed in five Odisha districts Saturday as persistent heavy rain disrupted normal activities, following an assessment of the weather situation.
District administrations in Kataka, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur and Nuapada announced school closures for the day in view of the rainfall and prevailing conditions. In Bhadrak, the administration closed 399 schools across seven blocks.
The respective district collectors took the decisions as a precautionary measure, with local authorities monitoring rainfall and conditions on the ground.
