Bhubaneswar, Jan 6: An Odissi dance programme was organised at Soochana Bhawan Tuesday wherein five danseuses and two choral groups performed.
A solo performance of Kamodi Pallavi was presented by Vaishali, which was set to Taal Khemta and Ektaal. The audiences were enthralled at Vaishali’s graceful presentation. The performance was choreographed by Alok Kanungo while music was composed by Rambari Das.
Another group performance, called Abhinaya, was played out on Raag Pahadi set to Ektaal. The protagonist expressed Radha’s suffering for Krishna. Based on an incident mentioned in legendary epic Gita Govindam written by Jayadev, the performance showed Radha asking her friends where Krishna is and recalls her times spent with him. She asks her ‘sakhis’ to bring Krishna to her as soon as possible.
The heart-touching emotions were depicted with grace as the group enacted the pining of Radha for her lover Krishna. In the background played the song Sakhi Re Keshi Madan Madhuram, that served to enhance the performance.
The programme was organised by ‘Sworabitan’, a voluntary organisation promoting art and culture, on the occasion of its foundation day.
