Bhubaneswar: Candidates, who were on the waiting list of Combined Police Service Exam – 2013 for selection of police personnel for various posts in Odisha police, Monday appealed before the Odisha Administrative Tribunal (OAT) seeking appointment.
The aspiring candidates claimed that around 100 candidates selected in the exams are still to join and as per rules those next in line should be appointed in their place.
Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) issued notice for the Combined Police Service Examination-2013 for direct recruitment of 844 posts of Sub-Inspector of Police, Sergeant of Police, Deputy Subedar and Station Officer (Fire Service) under Home Department.
The candidates claimed that according to Part-A No.17 (4) of the resolution of the Home department issued in 2008, in case candidates are not available for a post a supplementary list of the next rank holders should be issued.
The candidates several times drew the attention of the Commandant Police service examination and OSSC in this regard, but to no avail.
They also wrote several letters to the Director General of police. However, despite running from door-to-door, the candidates failed to get justice.
The harassed candidates Monday finally appealed to the tribunal.
