KORAPUT: Polling for two Lok Sabha and 14 Assembly seats have started in undivided Koraput district.
As many as 79 candidates are in the fray for the Assembly seats in these four districts – Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri and Nabarangpur – that fall under undivided Koraput district.
Out of these candidates, there are four contestants in Nabarangpur, five in Dabugaon, four in Jharigaon, five in Umerkote, five in Rayagada, six in Gunupur, Five in Bisam-Cuttack, eight in Jeypore, five in Kotpad, eight in Koraput, six in Pottangi, five in Laxmipur, seven in Malkangiri and six in Chitrakonda.
Similarly, voters are deciding the fate of four candidates for Nabarangpur Lok Sabha seat and seven candidates for Koraput Lok Sabha seat.
Voters in this undivided district are deciding the luck of several heavyweight politicians.
BJP’s Koraput Lok Sabha candidate Jayaram Pangi, BJP’s Jharigaon Assembly seat candidate Parshuram Majhi, Congress’ Nabarangpur Assembly candidate Sadan Nayak, BJD’s Jeypore assembly candidate Rabinarayan Nanda and Congress’ Taraprasad Bahinipati, BJD’s Nabarangpur Lok Sabha candidate Ramesh Chandra Majhi, Congress’ Kotpad MLA candidate Chandrasekhar Majhi, Congress’ Dabugaon MLA candidate Bhujabal Majhi and BJD’s Rayagada MLA candidate Lalbihari Himirika are among the seasoned politicians whose fate is being decided by the voters today.
