Odapada, April 7: In a shocking incident, miscreants brutally killed the senior executive of a ferroalloys company at Tulsidiha under Motanga police limits in Dhenkanal district Tuesday.
The victim, Shibanarayan Mishra (61), assistant vice-president (works) of Mangilal Rungta Ferro-Alloys, hails from Khandagiri area in Bhubaneswar. He was staying in an apartment in Dakhinakali Road of Dhenkanal town.
Based on the dying declaration of Mishra, police arrested Sujit Sahu (25) and Tikayat Pradhan (26) of Motanga village and took them for interrogation. A case was registered in this connection over a complaint lodged by the plant security officer, Dhiren Pradhan, in Motanga police station.
The incident occurred at about 9 am when Mishra was on his way to office from Dhenkanal town. Some rebel employees waylaid his vehicle about 300 metres from the plant premises.
They overpowered his driver Nityananda Khuntia (28) by brandishing a sharp-edged weapon before pulling the victim out of his vehicle. Later, they dragged him to a roadside farmland where the blood-thirsty workers beat him up with hammers and iron bars.
Profusely bleeding, Mishra lost his sense after which the accused fled the scene dumping him on the site.
Some other employees rescued Mishra and rushed him to a private hospital in Cuttack. He, however, succumbed on his way to the hospital.
SP Nikhil Kumar Kanodia, SDPO Rajkishore Dora, Sadar IIC Truptimaya Nayak, Motanga IIC Jeetendra Kumar Sahu along with a forensic squad and sniffer dogs rushed to the spot and started an investigation. Police seized a sharp-edged weapon spotted by a sniffer dog.
When contacted, Kanodia said the murder is an act by some disgruntled employees of the plant. He stated that the probe was on and a clear picture would emerge soon.
