Rengali: Despite reports of people being hesitant to carry dead bodies for cremation in the state due to ostraciation, BJD Rengali MLA Ramesh Patua has set an example for others by shouldering the body of an elderly man.
According to reports, following the death of an elderly person at Amanapali here Thursday, no one of the locality came forward to help in carrying the body to cremation ground. The body was unattended for 24 hours.
On being informed about the incident by Laida police outpost in-charge, MLA Patua cancelled their scheduled programmes and reached the spot with his two sons.
The legislator then shouldered the body till the cremation ground and cremated it.
