Rourkela: Rourkela Police Wednesday said that there is no link between the deaths of Assistant Collector Sushmita Minj and lady ASI Alisa Narmi Lugun.

In the meantime, cops Wednesday questioned Gurundia BDO Benati Lakra and the CDPO in connection with the death of Assistant Collector Sushmita Minj.

“All the allegations that there are links between the cases of Assistant Collector and lady ASI’s death are not correct. There is no link as the Assistant Collector case has been registered at Plant Site while lady ASI’s death has been registered at Udit Nagar police station,” Rourkela SP Mitrabhanu Mohapatra said.

Mohapatra stated that there are allegations suggesting that lady ASI Alisa might have been the Personal Security Officer (PSO) of the late Assistant Collector or was involved in the investigation. Furthermore, it was clarified by Mohapatra that Assistant Collector Sushmita Minj had never requested protection.

Regarding the death of lady ASI, a case has been filed, and a viral video has been included in the case record. Appropriate measures will be taken in response, the SP said.

In the video that went viral from the accident site at RMC Square ring road, Lugun was seen holding a woman’s hand while some others were trying to help the woman. Furthermore, there was an argument between Lugun and those individuals.

“A team of doctors conducted the post-mortem and the entire thing has been videographed. We are expecting the autopsy report soon,” Mohapatra informed regarding Lugun’s death.

According to the source, ASI Alisa, who was posted at Udit Nagar police station, had gone to an accident spot Sunday evening. Later, as she felt uneasy, she was rushed to the hospital where she was declared dead.

On the context of Sushmita Minj’s death, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) has been assigned to conduct a probe into the incident.

Earlier, the brother of the deceased Assistant Collector Sushmita Minj filed an FIR, claiming that ASI Alisha was assigned to ensure the safety of his sister, who was going through mental depression. He further accused the officials of not allowing the Minj to return home and accommodating her stay at a hotel.

A few days later, she was discovered dead from a pond in Centurion Park, located in the jurisdiction of Plant Site Police Station in Rourkela, under mysterious circumstances September 19.
