Cuttack, Jan 8: The SCB Medical College and Hospital is heading for a major infrastructural overhaul with an array of plans scheduled for the premier hospital of the state.
The process for shifting of the super specialty outdoor and renovation of general outdoor has already started. If things go as per the schedule, the super specialty outdoor would start functioning at the top floor of the general outdoor, said sources.
Meanwhile, the health department has worked out a plan to bring in structural changes at the hospital. The department has also laid out a mega plan to connect the surgery ward with the obstetrics and gynaecology (O&G) department through a foot over bridge (FOB) for patients’ convenience.
The open space in front of the surgery ward and O&G department would be used for construction of an eight-storey building to facilitate extension of emergency wards.
With this, the hospital would get a larger infrastructure, as compared to earlier, apart from a link with trauma care unit and the surgery and O&G department.
According to SCB Medical College and Hospital superintendent Pratap Rath, “The provision of plying of ambulances and other vehicles meant for carrying patients would be there under the FOB as earlier.”
Chief architect of works department Biswaranjan Nayak has conducted a field inspection in this regard Monday. He discussed several issues with the hospital superintendent, administrative officer Pratap Mishra, works department divisional officer Alok Mohanty and assistant engineer Parsuram Sahoo.
