Bargarh: At least two labourers died of asphyxiation and another was critical while working inside a septic tank Thursday.
The incident was reported from Mandosil village under Paikamal police limits in this district.
The deceased were Karunakar Patel and Madan Bariha. The two entered the under-construction septic tank of Sushant Bag in the morning for work. Nepal Netam, a mason, waited outside.
After some time, when the two didn’t respond to calls from Netam, the mason went inside the tank for assistance. Inside the tank, all the three suffered suffocation.
Fire personnel reached the spot, rescued the three and rushed them to the Nuapada district headquarters hospital. Doctors said Karunakar and Madan were already dead at the time of arrival. Netam is undergoing treatment at the hospital and his condition was stated critical.
