Cuttack: Noted Odia singer Humane Sagar allegedly forced his wife to change religion, said a source Wednesday.
According to Anil Ray, lawyer of Sagar’s wife Shriya Mishra, the singer is a Christian and his wife is Hindu. The couple married several years back. However. later on Humane allegedly started asking Shriya to convert to Christianity.
Besides, Ray informed that Sagar had been physically torturing Shriya and attempted to kill her as well.
Meanwhile, Shriya’s father did not make any statement about the alleged conversion and informed that only his daughter can reveal more information about the said incident. He also said that the marriage was solemnised with their knowledge that Sagar was a Christian. His daughter and Sagar were in love, he informed.

It may be mentioned here that Shriya Tuesday accused her husband of torturing her physically and mentally and approached the Commissionerate Police. Subsequently, Cuttack DCP Pinak Mishra ordered a probe into the matter.
The cops had been asked to appear for counselling at Mahila Police Station in Cuttack. Sagar along with his wife appeared at the police station Thursday.
