Jajpur: Adding to the spate of rape cases in the state, a six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 15-year-old boy at Vyasanagar Municipality area in Jajpur district.
While the incident occurred Monday, it came to fore Tuesday after the victim’s family members lodged a complaint with Jajpur road police.
According to the complaint, the incident took place Monday evening when victim’s father had gone to Kalinganagar for some work and the girl was playing outside the house.
The accused who, lives in the neighbourhood allegedly took the minor girl to his house and alleged raped her.
On reaching home, the victim narrated her ordeal to her family members following which both the families entered into an altercation and finally the victim’s family sought the intervention of police.
Acting on the complaint, police registered a case (194/18) under Sections 376 of IPC and POCSO Act and apprehended the accused.
Police also conducted medical examinations of both the victim and the accused along with recording the statement of the victim.
