Some respite from heatwave till May 4

Bhubaneswar: People will get a little relief from the prevailing heatwave condition as India Meteorological Department (IMD) Saturday said temperatures will come down in the state from Sunday.
“Excluding one or two places, day temperatures will fall across the state from Sunday. Similar weather conditions will continue till May 4,” said director of Bhubaneswar meteorological centre Sarat Sahu. Thunderstorms may occur in some parts of the state in the afternoon, he said, adding, “The temperature will rise again from May 5.”
The highest temperature of 42.8 degrees Celsius was recorded at Sonepur Saturday. The maximum temperature at Bolangir was 40.6 degrees while it was 40.3 degrees at Bhawanipatna, 40.2 degrees each at Sambalpur and Malkangiri, the Met said.
Thunder squalls accompanied by hail and gusty surface wind speed reaching 50-60 km ph is likely to occur at one or two places over Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Ganjam and Gajapati during the next 24 hours.
