Post News Network, Bhubaneswar, Feb 17: He is a kid aged 13. He has a doting mother to egg him on, to take him around in pursuit of his passion. He, needless to say, has the means to pursue his hobbies – music and painting. He has, till date, received more than 530 awards. Now he is working to help underprivileged kids of his age and below to get a taste of success in the fields he loves to play in.
Pratyusha Kumar Kar, a Std. VIII student of Delhi Public School, Kalinga, and a ‘guru’ to many same-age poor kids, has indeed proved himself to be a boon for them, who have less facilities and funds to get themselves trained in music and painting.
Pratyusha, who took part in popular reality shows dedicated to singing, such as Sare Gama Little Champs, Indian Idol Junior and Singing Superstar, a local TV reality show, has been walking that extra mile for some time now to bring smile on the faces of the not-so-privileged children. He indeed, is toiling hard to dedicate his service to the society in the best possible way he can. “I regularly take out time every Saturday and Sunday for these kids and try to train them in singing and painting to the best of my abilities. I love to do this and this gives me a great sense of satisfaction,” he says.
Pratyusha, who has already performed with Bhajan luminaries like Suresh Wadekar and Anup Jalota, says he has always been fascinated by music, but Bhajans have a special place in his life. “I like music of all genres, but Bhajans fascinate me. I started following music since I was six. When I was first introduced to Sanksrit Shlokas, it really touched my heart. At that time I developed a liking for music and then it became my passion. Now, every day I devote one hour in the morning to learn music from my teachers,” he says.
He has already sung in front of such singers as Alka Yagnik, Asha Bhosle, Adnan Sami, Javed Ali among others and has managed to impress them.
He, however, will not pursue either music or painting as his career. He wants to be a scientist after completing college. “I love to sing and perform on stage. It fascinates me, but as a career, I am planning to become a scientist. Singing is my passion and it will always be there with me. I will always pursue music, but as a hobby,” he says.
Pratyusha has, till date, bagged more than 530 awards participating in various musical programmes and competitions. He has however, not confined himself to music alone. He has followed his other passion, painting, with equal fervor and has bagged many awards in that domain too.
The child artist at the All India Radio, Cuttack (2012), however gives much credit for his success to his mother Sucharita Kar for her support in carrying out his passion alongside studies. “My mother always stands by me. She takes me to different events and encourages me to carry on with my passion. It is only because of her inspiration that I can manage all these things,” says Pratyusha.
