Bhadrak: Vehicular movements came to a standstill after a gas tanker overturned on Natinoal Highway-16 near Rahanj here in this district.
After hours of efforts, fire officials recovered the gas tanker and the vehicle movement was brought to normal after 13, reports said.
Sources said, the incident occurred while the gas tanker heading from Paradip towards Bokaro, met an accident at Rahanj Friday evening.
Following the incident, gas was found to be leaking. For the sake of safety, the administration suspended vehicular movement near the tanker on the stretch. Besides, local residents were also asked not to light any kind of ovens.
The fire personnel kept on spraying water all through the night and had a watch on it. Later, a special squad from Paradip reached the spot and transferred the gas into two other tankers.
Later vehicles were allowed on the road and the local residents have been asked to start cooking.
