Joda: An abandoned newborn girl is now under the care of a tribal woman, after she found it on the verandah of a house in Azad Basti here in Keonjhar district six days ago. Uma Munda rescued the baby and is feeding it as none came forward to claim it.
She said she was on her way home from work when she heard a baby crying. Looking around she found a newborn wrapped in a saree and in an abandoned state. She took the child home.
However, no information was given to police, said Manoranjan Bisi, the inspector of the Joda police station.
