Cuttack: Two persons died while six others of a family were rendered critical after an auto-rickshaw they were travelling collided with a truck on Old Cuttack-Sambalpur road near Paschimeswar temple in this district Sunday night.
The deceased were Kuni Behera and Alekh Behera. Eight members of a family were heading towards Shankarpur area in Dhenkanal to attend some function. A truck coming from Athagarh collided with their vehicle.
One of the victims died on the spot. Passers-by rushed the seven others to the Athgarh government hospital. One of the victims died while undergoing treatment in the hospital. The other victims were later shifted to the SCB in Cuttack.
Police sent the bodies for post-mortem. The drivers of both the vehicles were detained for interrogation.
