Bhubaneswar: With the objective of getting A++ rating from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Utkal University will organise a one-day workshop here, Monday. The university authorities will discuss issues regarding the NAAC accreditation and reaccreditation, implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP)- 2020 and reformation of the examination system through online mode among others. The meeting will have presence of principals of several colleges of Khurda and other districts colleges. Utkal University VC Sabita Acharya and PG Council Chairperson Navanita Rath will also grace the occasion. Acharya said, “We had appealed to the NAAC for re-evaluation after our rating dropped. As expected, they reevaluated it and we got our A+ rating back last year. Now our main aim will be to get A++ rating and also to improve the infrastructure of the university.”
Recently, Ravenshaw University became the first public university in the state to be accorded A++ grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Earlier, Utkal University was dropped from A+ to A in May 2023 as it scored 3.16 CGPA in the 3rd cycle of accreditation. It had secured A+ grade with 3.53 CGPA in 2016. NAAC has been set up to facilitate volunteering institutions to assess their performance visa-vis set parameters and a process that provides space for participation of the institution. NAAC uses several indicators as its criteria to assess the grade of higher educational institutions such as curricular aspects, teaching, learning and evaluation, research, infrastructure and learning resources, and institutional values among others.
