Kakatpur: A police inspector was allegedly thrashed and a police team detained by a mob while they were conducting a raid at Dahilhia village here Wednesday. The police team led by Kakatpur IIC Jyoti Prakash Swain raided the village over complaints of illegal liquor sale. Tension erupted as the cops hit a village youth.
The cops thereafter left for nearby village Kendrapati for more raids. There, the villagers detained the police team for about two hours. They released the cops only after the IIC reached the village and pacified the inhabitants.
As tension prevailed in the area, two platoons of police force have been deployed as a precautionary measure.
