Telkoi: Amid allegations of 102 and 108 ambulance service being flopped in remote and forested pockets, a Juanga woman delivered a baby under a tree while she was waiting for the ambulance service at Chandapasi under Telkoi block of Keonjhar Saturday. Locals blamed it on the failure of ambulance service.
Reports said when Kuni Juanga of Chandapasi experienced labour pain, ASHA Subarna Pradhan escorted her to the village’s outskirts and called in ambulance service. Hours went by, but no ambulance was in sight. The woman delivered a baby girl at 5pm.
Then the ASHA called the authorities of the district headquarters hospital. An ambulance reached there and shifter the mother and the baby to Telkoi hospital, which is 22 km from Chandapasi.
The area is inaccessible to telephony and ambulance.
