Kaniha: A body of a night watchman was recovered from the office of the lift irrigation department here in Angul district, Monday.
The watchman was identified as 55 years old Hadinandhu Gadanayak of Tolakabeda village.
Sources said that like any other day, he had dinner and went to sleep after latching the door of the room from inside. Monday morning, officials found the room was still locked at 10am. His mobile number was dialed but ended without any response.
Sensing something wrong, SDO Balaram Nayak informed the police. Later, the door was opened in the presence of inspector-in-charge Prabhat Kumar Tripathy and tehsildar Rabindra Kumar Samal. They presumed he died in his sleep. “The actual reason of his death is yet to be ascertained. The post-mortem report would help us ascertain the cause behind the death,” informed IIC Tripathy adding discussion is on to compensate the bereaved family.
