New Delhi: He is being credited for Aryan Khan finally getting bail in the drugs case. However, former Attorney General of India (AGI) Mukul Rohatgi does not want to take the credit all by himself. In fact, Mukul Rohatgi has given due credit to Shah Rukh Khan for helping the legal team in the Aryan Khan case. In fact Rohatgi has termed SRK as a ‘hands on’ and ‘savvy’ person.

Rohatgi has informed that Shah Rukh was desperately worried for his son and it led to the latter drinking ‘coffee after coffee’. While drinking coffee, SRK gave notes and suggestions to the legal team working in the case. After Aryan was granted bail Thursday by the Bombay High Court, Shah Rukh responded with ‘tears of joy’, high profile lawyer Rohatgi has disclosed to ‘NDTV’.

Aryan, 23, was arrested after a Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) raid on a cruise ship party October 2. He has been in Mumbai’s Arthur Road jail for three weeks and is expected to be out either Friday or Saturday. .

“I got instructions from Shah Rukh Khan. He was in constant touch with me,” Rohatgi has been quoted as saying by ‘NDTV’.

“Since Aryan did not get bail in the lower court, the parents of Aryan were quite worried. Close to a month had gone by when the Bombay High Court was moved for bail. That is why they were taking a very keen interest in the case. Shah Rukh Khan had given up all his professional activities. And he was very much available at all times. He was in fact making notes to help this legal team of what he remembered about those chats and about this and about that…,” Rohatgi said.

“He (Shah Rukh) is not a lawyer. But he has a very strong common sense and perception. He was trying to tell me the background…where his son studied…who all did he know and what those (WhatsApp) chats are about. He did not have those chats. The chats are on Aryan’s phone and the phone is with them (NCB). He gave me all the background saying this could help you. He was very savvy and hands-on,” the former AGI added. “I’m sure he’s today a relieved father and his mother (Gauri Khan) is a relieved mother,” Rohatgi further said.

The lawyer also informed that he met SRK, but not Gauri. “Obviously, I met the father, not the mother after bail was granted. Shah Rukh had tears of joy. For the last three-four days he had been a worried man. I am not even sure whether he had proper meals. He would be having coffee after coffee. And he was very, very worried. And I could see a big sense of relief on the father’s face, last when I met him,” informed Rohatgi.

Though a trial could take a long time, Rohatgi called bail a ‘big relief’ simply because a young man is out of jail.
