Dhenkanal: In a bizarre incident, a man committed suicide on the premises of a temple in Chittalpur near Rasol in this district Tuesday.
Niranjan Sahu ended his life by hanging himself on the premises of Shiv temple after his wish for a child was not fulfilled.
Sahu, who married two years ago, had been offering prayers to get a child by prostrating himself before the idols for the last 21 days.
Sources said he took the extreme step after being disappointed at not getting results for his prayers.
Police have started an investigation into the matter by sending the body for post-mortem.
