Dasmantpur: A woman was taken to hospital in a sling by two persons as the ambulance could not reach Birighat village of Pindapadar panchayat of this block Mondaydue to bad roads.
Sources said Doumani Dishari, 28, the wife of Abhi Dashari, has been suffering from a disease for long. Her husband tried all kinds of treatment, but her condition did not improve.
Although finances were a big problem, they decided to consult a doctor. Abhi called an ambulance to transport his wife, but it could not reach the village as the approach road was not motorable.
Finding no other way, the husband and some villagers carried the patient on a sling to Dasmanrtpur hospital, 10 km away.
Abhi told reporters that the ambulance failed to reach the village Sunday when Doumani’s condition worsened.
Meanwhile, villagers said many patients including pregnant women of at five villages in the area were taken to hospital on cots and slings.
The villagers have been urging the local administration to build an all-weather road to the village, but to no avail.
