Angul: Police Friday evening recovered the body of a young woman hanging from the ceiling of her house in Kandasar village under Nalco police limits of this district.
The deceased has been identified as 25-year-old Jinarani Pradhan, who was married to Dharmendra Sahoo of Tulasipal village under Banarpal police limits. They had married only eight days before the incident.
According to the police, Dharmendra worked as a contractual labourer at Nalco. He had married Jinarani in a local court May 2. The couple had been living in a rented accommodation at Kandasar.
Friday noon, Dharmendra had come home possibly for lunch. However, he went away after Jinarani didn’t open the door despite him knocking several times. Later in the day neighbours spotted Jinarani’s body hanging from the ceiling and informed the cops.
Police reached the spot and broke the door open in presence of Magistrate Jitendra Sahu to recover the body. Brother of the deceased, who arrived after being informed of the incident, was also on the spot.
Though the exact cause behind her taking the extreme step is yet to be ascertained, quarrel arising out of difference in opinion between her and her husband is suspected.
