Loisingha: In a shocking scenario, a woman was tonsured and paraded naked through the village street by a local gang after suspicion was raised over her character, Sunday night.
The heinous incident was reported from Karakachia village near Loisingha in Bolangir district. The victim approached the local police and lodged a written complaint Monday. Police registered a case and launched a probe while no one has been arrested.
Some neighbours of the woman were behind the heinous act. An altercation broke out as four persons abused her in filthy language. Later, a village meeting was called where the woman was certified as innocent. The four accused were made to beg for pardon for their aggressive behavior. Then the village committee imposed a penalty on them.
This angered the four and they decided to take revenge on the woman. They together went up to the woman’s house at night, dragged her out and attacked her. They cut her hair and stripped her, and then forced her to walk naked along the village street in full view of the public, as per the complaint.
No onlooker dared to come to the woman’s rescue. Even as the woman was crying and pleading with the gang to spare her, the miscreants beat her up. Even terrified family members did not come to her rescue for fear they too would be beaten up.
