Bhubaneswar: A minor girl and her nephew were found hanging from the ceiling of an under-construction apartment at Lumbini Vihar under Chandrasekharpur police in Bhubaneswar Friday.
The nephew was identified as Somesh Mahali (18) of Kurkutia village under Bisoi police in Mayurbhanj district.
According to reports, Somesh’s father recently remarried after the demise of his first wife. He has two sons from his first marriage. Elder son Somesh was working under a contractor at an under-construction building at Lumbini Vihar, while the younger son is in the fourth grade. Deceased girl was the sister of Somesh’s step-mother.
Somesh Thursday eloped with her, which the family did not approve of. They were staying in Lumbini Vihar in a makeshift room at the under-construction apartment. Friday morning, their relatives came to take the girl with them.
However, upon reaching the makeshift room, the relatives found that both had committed suicide.
The bodies were sent for post-mortem and an investigation in this regard was also launched.
