Bhandaripokhari: A girl was allegedly raped and tortured by a youth on the promise of marriage in this area of Bhadrak district. A complaint was lodged with the police Tuesday.
Khageswar Patra, a resident of Sathipur in Jajpur had a physical relationship with the girl of Ola village in Bhadrak. Later he had taken the girl to New Delhi on the promise of marriage April 8 and raped her. Then, he demanded dowry of Rs 1 lakh from her for marriage. Later he left the girl.
The family members of the girl had called the youth to their house to discuss about the marriage. Both the girl and the youth were taken to the police station as the issue couldn’t be resolved.
Police registered a case and got the couple medically examined.
