Sajanagad: A woman was left battling for life after she was brutally attacked by a youth after a failed rape attempt. The matter came to the fore after the victim lodged a complaint with Nilagiri police station in Balasore district.
According to reports, the woman was changing her clothes after taking bath when the accused youth forcefully grabbed her by his arms and attempted to outrage her modesty Friday morning. When the woman tried to resist the rape bid and shouted aloud for help, her neighbours came to her. Realising that villagers have gathered near the house, the accused immediately fled the spot.
In the afternoon, when the woman was sitting on the porch of her house, the accused came in a fit of rage and attacked her following which she sustained grievous injuries on her head. Her family members rescued her and took her to a nearby hospital for treatment.
As per the complainant, the accused used to eve-tease, passed lewd remarks and molested her on several occasions. However, fearing social stigma, she didn’t reveal the matter before anyone.
Basing on the complaint, police registered a case and started investigation into the matter.
