Bolangir: A 25-year-old youth assaulted two brothers of a minor school girl with a sword in Kantabanji area of this district and left them injured when the duo asked him not to stalk their sister, according to a complaint lodged Monday at the SP office here.
The Class IX student, accompanied by her brothers, approached the superintendent of police seeking immediate arrest of the accused. The youth identified as Bishnu Bharasagar and his associates have now turned a threat for them, the complaints said. The girl also alleged that Kantabanji police was shielding the accused.
According to reports, Bishnu and his friends used to stalk the girl on her way to the school and tuition classes for the last couple of months. They often passed lewd comments and made obscene remarks at her but she ignored. Finally, the girl had to warn Bishnu to mend his ways but it didn’t work. Left with no option, the school girl informed her brothers in this regard.
Taking the matter seriously, the brothers confronted Bishnu and asked him not to disturb their sister. This led to an altercation and Bishnu suddenly pulled out a sword and assaulted the girl’s brother. The duo sustained injuries in the attack. He even threatened the two to eliminate them.
Though the girl had earlier lodged a complaint with Kantabanji police over the issue, it took no action against the accused. This forced her to take up the issue with the SP, it was learnt.
In the absence of the SP, the DSP Kishore Panigrahy received the complaint and assured stringent action against the accused. The youth was learnt to have fled the area.
