3 students killed in bike mishap

Rourkela, Dec 16: Three college students died on the spot while returning from Chikatmati to Beldi in a bike, while in another incident, a man was critically injured in a bike accident at TCI Chowk, Rourkela.

The three deceased arts students of Vedvyas Mahavidyalaya were identified as Rashmi Ranjan Meher (19), Binod Mahapatra (18) and Chinmaya Behera (18). They were heading from Chikatmati to Beldi around 10:30 pm Monday in Binod’s newly bought bike when the mishap took place. Binod lost control of the bike on the highway. The three fell and died on the spot as they were crushed under several vehicles passing by.

Sources said Rashmi is a resident of Bamra Circuit, Sambalpur, and has been living in a mess at Beldi, while Binod and Chinmaya are residents of Vedvyas Sing Tola and Vedvyas Mandir Road respectively. Their bodies have been kept in the morgue of Rourkela Government Hospital. Rashmi’s post-mortem has been carried out and the body has been claimed by his father.
Another accident took place at TCI Chowk Tuesday when a man in a bike was hit by a truck at TCI Chowk. His condition is stated to be critical.
